It was a chilly morning as we started walking from Gumflat Rd. Some Nodding Greenhood buds and other orchid leaves were seen on the side of the track.
At 2 km we had a short tea-break at the seat and a chance to survey the expanse of Anglesea River valley. We observed lots of bright green Victorian Smoke-bush which will look impressive when it flowers in spring.
Lunch at the picnic table and convenient seat-sized rocks was welcome though the wind and the grey clouds on the horizon moved us onwards.
We marveled again at the beautiful designed path of stepping stones across the water and the uncommon Yellow Rice-flower almost coming into flower at their tips.
Just over the stepping stones Peter found a Wolf Spider sitting in its hole.
On up the hill there were many puddles to skirt and the grasstrees were looking healthy. We found the veined leaves of the Fringed Hare Orchids and a couple of remaining flower stalks. We admired the lovely patterns of the red-coloured Sundews against the green of the orchid leaves shining in the sun.
The wind was getting stronger towards the end of the walk and it was a quick goodbye as some people got a lift back to the cars at Gumflat Rd and the others headed off for coffee.
An enjoyable day out with good company.
