About 50 people joined with the Friends of Eastern Otways to celebrate World Environment Day on the Anglesea Heath at Camp Road. The Friends have a Caring for our Country Community Action Grant to remove environmental weeds from the area and to generally improve flora and fauna biodiversity.
We were thrilled that so many accepted the invitation from Alcoa and the Friends to participate in celebrating this special day.
We were especially pleased to welcome the Year 2 students from Anglesea Primary School who were very excited to participate.
The children listened carefully to Peter Hay, the Park’s Vic Ranger, as he explained how they could participate safely.
And then it was time for the children to attack the Coast Wattle with help from the Friends, ANGAIR, Alcoa employees and Parks Vic Staff.
Yes we did find some Boneseed:
DSE, Parks Vic Fire Rangers and CVA worked nearby:
Otways Community Conservation Network funded a most enjoyable lunch prepared by YMCA.
It was a great team effort and lots of fun.
