Friends of Eastern Otways’ members were saddened and very disappointed to hear that the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) has closed it’s highly successful Education Program and has made the skilled Educators in the program redundant. This decision is contrary to the importance GORCAPA has previously placed on environmental education as noted on their website:“We believe inspiring and informing the next generation of coastal stewards is critical to maintaining and protecting all beautiful natural assets along our iconic Great Ocean Road coast and parks.”
The Friends of Eastern Otways acknowledge the important contributions to environmental education along the Great Ocean Road undertaken by members of the GORCAPA Education Program. Once again the burden of inspiring and educating the next generation will be placed on volunteer organisations like the the Friends of Eastern Otways.
