We had perfect weather on the day we launched our updated Walks Book and website. We had a crowd of over 40 interested people and after a short introduction from Pete we headed off along the Distillery Creek nature walk, checking the new QR codes on the information signs as we went. The bird calls on the new website were a hit and the birds themselves were in fine voice.
Back at the picnic ground Peter and Margaret gave heartfelt speeches thanking the many people involved in producing the book and map, website and the QR codes.
We were pleased and privileged to have Gail join us from Geelong Community Foundation, the group who provided the grant which enabled us to complete the project. Special mention went to Rod who co-ordinated behind the scenes.
After the speeches we enjoyed a wonderful lunch and good company in our beautiful park.
People lingered and a group set up by the wetland with cameras and binoculars to observe the many birds coming in to bathe. They saw a pair of Satin Flycatchers, Eastern Shrike-tit and Blue-winged parrot amongst others.
We are very pleased with how the book turned out, the new map, new walks, all new photos. So, get your copy and enjoy walking the tracks of the Great Otway National Park. Try the QR codes for more information on the Distillery Creek nature walk and look out for more QR codes as we expand them to other tracks.
